GOcipher Goes Green
Cooperating to make our planet a Greener One.
GOcipher is always looking for ways to decrease our energy consumption. We are searching for new solutions that offer energy-efficient products to help mitigate the environmental impact of our operations. As a Host service provider we are often seeking for technological solutions that allow us to be cost and energy efficient.
This is why as of 2009, GOcipher is Going Green. Because we spend 1/3 of a day working, we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to make our world a better one. We are constantly thriving to implement methods and changes to make our facilities environmentaly friendly. Next, these are some of the concepts GOcipher keeps in mind on our daily tasks:
As our main tools being computers and servers, one of the major changes that we have done is to become energy savers by changing all of our Datacenter’s Processors to lower their impact in our environment. Low-voltage 45 nanometer (nm) processors for servers are used to do so. Also, workstations that run at 50 watts, or just 12.5 watts per core and frequencies as high as 2.50 GigaHertz (GHz) are used to reduce ecological impact.

With our computers, we use smart power strips where we can plug all of the hardware giving us the ability to shut all down at once. We also make sure to have our other tools such as screcycle ableanners and printers left unplugged until we need to use them. Another great way that we save energy is by using Plug 2 U Energy Saving Tubes in our systems.
Considering that we want to save trees, we do all of our operations online. Doing so, we reduce the need to use paper products. Our own newly developed projects such our Online Test, Online Time Clock, T3 Tracker, allow us to complete our tasks online. Also, as a new company policy, everything that is to be printed out must have a stamp corporate email with Green Reminders which reminds us to print wisely.
Another of the many options that we consider, is to buy recycled paper because the future of recycling ultimately depends on the existence of a market for the materials collected. Recycling is not just collecting materials and taking them to the recycling bank, it is about "closing the loop" and buying recyclable material as well. Paper mills cannot continue to produce recycled paper if people do not buy items made from it; therefore, we also encourage you to recycle. We would like to motivate other businesses to consider doing the same, just think, if we don't take care of our one and only planet, who will?
